Danish service for the wind energy industry in the US

liftra 2_kroppadThe international wind power industry has opened up remarkable growth opportunities for Nordic subcontractors in recent years, and one such subcontractor – the Danish company Liftra ApS – has specialised in wind turbine transport, installation and service. The company supplies its customers with tailor-made solutions and products designed to handle internal and external transport assignments, and for moving various wind turbine components.

Liftras solutions are highly customised, so the company must maintain a presence close to its customers in order to remain competitive. Moreover, Liftras solutions demand a strong service set-up. The United States is a huge market for wind energy that is still a long way from saturation, so Liftra decided to take a closer look at its opportunities there.

The feasibility study resulted in Liftra founding the subsidiary Liftra USA Inc. in Chicago to provide sales, design and development services locally. Liftra has chosen to locate its subsidiary in the State of Illinois, which is home to a large development and competency environment in the wind energy industry. In addition, it is expected that the number of wind farms in the region will increase appreciably over the coming years.

Liftra is currently active on several of the most important wind energy markets around the world – including Denmark, Germany, China, Spain and the United States – and the company plans to continue its expansion into relevant areas.
